Manchester is a town located in Hartford County, Connecticut and is located just 15 minutes from Hartford CT, 34 minutes from Springfield MA and just 24 minutes from Bradley International Airport. Looking for a day or weekend trip to a big city? Manchester is located just 1 hour and 35 minutes from Boston MA and just 2 hours and 20 minutes from New York City.
The town population at the 2010 census was 58,241 with a population density of 2,008.2 people per square mile. The median income for a household was $49,426, and the median income for a family was $58,769. What that means for you is that the town is primarly blue collar residents with a slightly more urban feel than some of the smaller Connecticut towns. The town is commonly referred to as “the City with Village Charm”

The hill that overlooks Hartford is massive and I highly recommend going sledding there after a snow storm! Recently, Center Springs Park has undergone a restoration project to bring the parks natural beauty back and has added a 9 hole frisbee golf course!
Manchester really offers just an amazing amount of shopping, dining and entertainment options and is considered a shopping hub for the local area. This transformation started with the addition of the Buckland Hills Mall which was recently rebranded to the Shoppes at Buckland Hills. Surrounding this part of town, is other national big box occupied commercial strip malls, a large movie theatre and Manchester recently added a Dave and Busters entertainment center. There is an abundance of dining options in the area, with a mix of chain restaurants and local mom and pop restaurants. Check out Main Street’s Ketchup and Mustard for a local burger, Stone and Paddle for fresh ingredient pizzas and Lucky Taco which is Mexican food with an around the world twist.

Some interesting things happen in Manchester throughout the year that are both sponsored by the town and privately organized. You can enjoy fireworks at Manchester Community College, held around the 4th of July, the Manchester Road Race held on Thanksgiving morning and a Cruzin on Main car show held on Main Street that features cars, trucks and street rods 25 years old or older.
